The Comforts of Christmas
At Christmas, we’re surrounded by things that make us feel cozy and warm. Think about some of the comforts you enjoy this season: a soft blanket on a chilly evening, a crackling fireplace, or a cup of hot cocoa in your hands. These simple comforts make us feel safe and cared for, especially when we’re together with family. But did you know these things can remind us of God, too? Just like a warm blanket wraps around us, God wraps us in His love and care. And just like cocoa warms us up, God's love fills us up and gives us joy. Jesus came to be with us so that we could feel the comfort of His presence every day.
Tonight, make some hot cocoa, grab your favorite blanket, and imagine sitting by a fireplace, watching the flames dance and feeling the warmth. The fire gives light and heat, just like Jesus, who came as the "Light of the World" to brighten our lives. He brings peace to our hearts, just like the fireplace makes a room feel calm and comforting.
Prayer: "Dear God, thank You for the warmth and comforts of Christmas that remind us of Your love. Thank You for the little things like blankets, cocoa, and cozy fires that make us feel safe. Help us remember that Jesus came to bring us comfort and peace, not just at Christmas but all year long. Amen."
