Baptism
Baptism is a meaningful way to publicly declare your faith and the transformation God is working in your life. It’s an outward expression of an inward change, symbolizing your commitment to Christ and your new life in Him. When we’re baptized, we follow Jesus’ example—leaving behind our old life and rising into the new. At Legacy, we celebrate every decision to follow Jesus, and baptism is an important step in that journey.
- "We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." Romans 6:4
- "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" 2Corinthians 5:17
- "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God." Ephesians 2:8
More than a ceremony or tradition, baptism is a personal declaration of faith, illustrating Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.
- "For when you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ." Colossians 2:12
- "For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures." 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
Jesus not only commanded baptism but also set the example by being baptized Himself.
- Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20
- "We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands." 1 John 2:3
- "At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan." Mark 1:9
Every person who has put their faith in Jesus should take this step of obedience and publicly proclaim their faith through baptism.
- "Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day." Acts 2:41
- "But when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women." Acts 8:12-13
